REVIEW

- Nous sommes très heureux de lire ce review de la part de Gary chez Dwyer Records....

- We are pleased to read this nice review from Gary at Dwyer Records....

'' This isn’t your average EP. EP’s are usually short, sweet, and give you just a glimpse of what a band has to offer, a short bitter sweet image of what is soon to follow by a band. Near Grey’s self titled EP is only three tracks, but these three tracks are beasts. The EP comes in just under 40 minutes. In that almost three quarters of an hour you’ll experience exactly what this Montreal band has to offer. Three extremely will put together post metal tracks chalk full of doom and atmosphere. The production on this album is very suited to the genre, having a decent balance of dirtiness and crisp sound. The guitar tones can be almost fantasy inducing at times with the washy-ness and well balanced chorus effects only to wash everything you’re feeling away in a wall of heavy delay. Some bands in the genre who incorporate synths or keyboards usually try to force this instrument to the foreground causing some clashes with the lead work of the guitar but Near Grey has seemed to find a tasteful balance for the keys in which the instrument only enhances the emotions behind the riffs. If this EP is only a glance into the future of this band you should all keep your eyes peeled for their next release.''
